Putting it mildly:
This is the beginning of our journey. This website has been created with only one goal in mind: Analyzing and recording the truth. Whether that truth challenges or leans into the mainstream opinions held by the majority of people is entirely irrelevant as either stance can be true depending on the subject.
Think of the Middle Ages, they believed they could cure syphilis with mercury and unicorns were thought to be a real-life tangible creature… both of these beliefs are objectively untrue. However, their understanding of Earth’s magnetic field allowed them to create the compass, their knowledge of how the eye worked allowed them to invent eyeglasses (no accounting for the precise quality of these prototypes).
The point is, no matter how popular the subject, we cannot take the side of counter-culture simply because we enjoy being in opposition to the mainstream. Both sides should equally agree on the importance of oxygen for human and non-human life, even if we disagree on exactly how much chemical air-pollution is acceptable.
While our primary focus is in the vein of politics and societal beliefs, we are not strictly political. Objective truth stretches its hand into every pot and, on our journey, we will be analyzing the contents of all of those pots.
Putting it less-mildly:
There are a lot of truly ignorant beliefs out there ranging from how we should best treat criminals to whether or not we should accept people of different lifestyles, and in which form that acceptance should take. I wish we could say that we had the answers ‘back in the day’ and that we just lost our way, but the truth is we never had the answers. We were never better than we are now. With that sentence in mind, looking at the state of the world in which we live might rightly leave you with a pit of despair in your stomach.
But imagine what we’ve achieved. In 2015, bans on same-sex marriage were stricken down at the federal level. Trans rights and orientation acceptance have gone through the roof. We commonly allow things to be depicted in movies and television which used to be unheard of. Violence in video games was blamed for nearly every teen shooting back in the nineties and they had never even seen Grand Theft Auto V, hell, the fps and ots genres were limited to a few dozen games, but now they’re nearly everywhere. While some people still try to blame violent video games for the increased shootings in America, even people within those circles recognize it as a baseless accusation.
To be as blunt as possible, this website is attempting to counteract stupidity at every turn. Is it arrogant to say that if you don’t agree with us, then you’re wrong? Sure. But sometimes that’s true. The Earth ISN’T flat. Ghosts AREN’T real. And if you believe that you can charge your rocks in the moonlight to protect yourself from evil, you ARE wrong. Educate yourself, better yourself. Just this once, challenge yourself to be better equipped for reality.
